STEVEN LUCAS
Professor of Archealogy

It's been three weeks since I set out across the Kalahari, searching for one legend in the hopes of finding another. Somewhere in this desert, or the outlying basin, a small valley has supposedly lain hidden from the outside world for untold ages. In that legendary Valley of Tears, a temple was erected, according to legend, to house an artifact out of time, a totem of power, a key to unknown doors& the Beast of England.

The Beast has not always resided within the walls of the temple. It has passed through many hands and crossed every ocean in its untold centuries of existence. Despite endless speculation, no one knows for sure where or when it originated. In fact, almost nothing is known about it for certain, except that it bestows nearly total power upon its wielder. It has been known by many names, likely first acquiring the Beast of England designation when it came into the possession of Edward the Elder in the 8th Century. Edward is one of the few people in history confirmed to have been in possession of the Beast. Using a portion of its might, he was able to wrest East Anglia and parts of the Midlands from the Danes, adding them to his territories.

A full history of the item would not only be impossible to compile, but would take up more space than I have here. Suffice to say that the Beast of England's current location is unknown, and I have come searching for what is believed to be its first home hoping to find clues to help me find the Beast itself.

To Be Continued
